Then and Now-Why Being a Sample Lady and a Network Executive are exactly the same

This is my first blog.  I feel compelled to write because I'm pretty sure I'm the only ex-network executive to be working as a sample lady in a grocery store.  Here's my story....
I'm having lunch with my ex-co-worker but still friend Lana.  She's complaining about John, who used to be my boss too.  "He is such a dick.  I'll say something in a meeting and he'll pretend not to hear and then ten minutes later he presents it as his idea and everyone thinks it's brilliant.  So he's a freakin' creative genius and I'm just some vapid D-girl."
Nothing has changed.  Except me.  I used to be a network executive and executive producer.  Then I had twin girls and my life changed.  A lot.  Now I'm a sample lady.  I put food into little paper cups and give it to people.  What hasn't changed  is how I do a job.  I still put everything I've got into what I'm doing .  And, like Lana, I still get really pissed off when other people take credit for my work.
Like yesterday, I was feeling pretty brilliant when I sampled the cranberry pecan chicken salad in a great new way.  I put it on toasted green chili sourdough bread.  People were loving it!  The heat in the chilies plays against the sweetness of the pecans and cranberries.  A cute young guy from the gym upstairs told me I had "mad skills."  Then I come in today and Mary, the night-time sample lady stole my idea. How do I know?  Because I found the tell-tale bread wrappers in the trash.  In this town, you have to learn to hide the evidence!
